Club and Organization Presidents:
I hope that this message finds you well. Please see the below message, and please forward it to your members as well.
As Chairman of the Joint Committee for Students' Rights Education, I am writing to update you on the Town of Farmville's search for a new Chief of Police. The Town received about 65 applications from all over the United States. The Town Council has tasked a special committee to review all applications, and to conduct interviews. This Committee has narrowed the pool of applications down to six. These applicants will be interviewed, and three applicants will be taken from this group of six.
In speaking to Town Council Member Sally Thompson, she stated that interviews will start in mid November, before Thanksgiving Break. The Town Council will be conducting the final interviews of the three final applicants. The Town has a goal of January 1 to have a new Chief of Police in place. Please know that Mrs. Thompson, as she serves on the Town Council and on the Committee conducting interviews, will be keeping the issues of students and their rights in for forefront of her questioning and interviewing.
Please know that the Joint Committee for Students' Rights Education is here to protect and address your rights and responsibilities as students. We do have right many rights and responsibilities here as part of an institution that is an entity with the Commonwealth of Virginia. Please e-mail me directly or at studentsrights@live.longwood.edu if you, or your organization members, have any concerns.
